A good-fitting cover for the Plus 2?

Wondering if anyone's found a pre-made reasonably priced car cover for the Plus 2?

Personally, I'm not looking for an outdoor cover; just one for the car while inside the garage. But others may need a cover for the weather.

Happy to see what people have found

I have a cover the previous owner gave me but he said it is a Tybond car cover in small size from Amazon.
I think it fits perfectly and I only use it indoors too. ?40 in the UK

Hi Randy,
I bought my cover from Halfords here in the UK, so not too sure it helps you but it's the all weather breathable fitted (Elasticated) fabric type and has been excellent for both indoor and outdoor use.
I've used it to cover the car in the garage for the last three years and had no condensation or damp issues at all.
The material is grey with tiny micro holes which lets the car 'air'. Incidently, it's now on my car at the paint shop while it 'workshop settles' :D
Hopefully the car will get its top coat next week and as soon as it's possible, I'll post some photos...exciting times
Kev.

I think technology has moved on quite a bit with the introduction of breathable fabrics. I would NEVER (as you boldly puit it Alan) put a plastic cover on an Elan (or any other car for that matter).
As with many subjects on here, it's all a matter of opinion. I don't say do it, I don't say don't do it. I do say it's what I do and couldn't give a toss about others BOLD opnions either way.

The best fitting inside car cover I have ever seen, was the one I saw on Holywood3645's S4. Not inexpensive, but in my opinion, one to put on the futures list, after I stop spending money on mechanical things. Maybe James will chime in on where he got his.

Thanks, gentlemen.

I'll check out the ebay offerings again.

I'm after keeping dust off the body, reducing the number of washes needed, and protecting against some scratches while parked indoors.

Agreed outdoor covers can be a problem - heat build-up and moisture retention - if used for extended periods (who really knows what extended is, though). I've also considered a simple fabric sheet large enough to drape over the entire car, too.

Randy.

Just as an example, although not cheap, I purchased a Supertex Indoor car cover.

I purchased it from Hamilton Classic Ltd at a Club Lotus Donington Show. Being a Club Lotus member I got a 10% discount, so cost me less than ?100. It is made from a very breathable, dust proof material with a soft fleece lining, so protects knocks and potential scratches.

If you are a Club Lotus member, you can purchase it from Club HQ. It?s listed on page 9 of the July 2016 Club Lotus News
For a +2, the size is ?SL? and current cost is ?99.00, with ?11.00 for delivery.

I have used it on my +2 since October 2011, as I have almost finished a complete nuts and bolt restoration.
So usage of almost 5 years and I can confirm I have not had any paint work issues. The car was completely stripped and resprayed and the finished paintwork left for 4 months, before the cover was used.

The photo shows the cover fitted, ignore the re carpeted boot rear panel, as this photo has already been resized to enable me to upload it.

California car cover has a really nice pattern for the +2 that after having about five years on my car in the garage still fits beautifully and snuggly. It is a few hundred dollars and all cotton and napped on the underside and never any problems since the repaint about six years ago. I did wait a year after the repaint before covering it and have had no problems although it is indoors all the time. Gordon Sauer
