Just wondered, are there any celebrations planned for 2017?

Ok John, September 2017 on the lawn in front of your house
But is it a case of doing things yourself, e.g. Contacting classic car magazines, contacting Lotus? Do not the various Lotus clubs have committees that have event organisers?
Early days yet, Les.

Nothing over here either that I know of. It'll also be the 60th anniversary of the Seven, so they're running with that as the theme of LOG 37. I think that the Plus 2 is going to be overlooked due to the Seven anniversaries until the end of time, but I guess having a taste for obscurity/underdogdom is part of what draws us to Plus 2 ownership.

There will be exclusive Type 50 parade laps at Castle Combe next year to celebrate the 50@50, so as many owners as possible should get the late May bank holiday Saturday in their 2017 diaries to ensure a bumper turnout.

I understand there is no interest at the factory in organising anything.

2017 is also the 50th anniversary of several iconic Lotus Types, all of which will no doubt have some sort of celebration at the Lotus Festival and Silverstone Classic. Therefore Combe ought to be the easiest gathering to have your +2 admired at by the highest number of Lotus fanatics!

Of course, if a group of you want to organise your own thing, crack on!

Tim

Is it a case of "Cinderella, you shall go to the ball" ?

If the 50th Elan anniversary is anything to go by, just don't hold your breath. The supposed nothing but Lotus Elans parade at the Lotus Festival Brands Hatch ended up as anything with a Lotus badge. None of the magazines made a real fuss, there was some small mention here and there but most didn't even notice or appear to care when it was pointed out to them.

I see my post has crossed over with Tim's, so I have edited my next paragraph.

I suggest an organised parking area at Club Lotus track day Castle Combe for +2's only and a dedicated lunch parade in addition to the normal lunch parade. Tim Wilkes has already suggested this to Alan Morgan and received a sort of okay. To make this work, we need to be a little bit organised and perhaps make a nuisance of ourselves to make this happen in any meaningful way. If we can get 50 type 50's in a parade that will make a real statement and will make people notice.

My +2 will be at Combe in 2017, who will join me? Can we organise at least another 49?

Writing from the French Alps where I am having a Blast!!! You can count on UBJ772F to be there and as its not leaking oil from the engine nor water inside the cockpit, whatever the weather throws it will be there.

I'm doing my best to get PMK 397F there, after 25 years off the road. Date on the calendar. Could do with a few more +2's attending.

I'm not a member and their website has nothing about it but would love to attend and bring along YNJ 914J for an outing. How do I go about arranging it?
