Did a UK +2 ever have strombergs as standard?
If not this - http://www.ah-classic-cars.co.uk/home/B ... an_+2_1969
has had an cylinder head / engine transplant at some point?

I think the Elan S4 and the +2 had Strombergs in the UK at the same time.

The '69 +2 I owned had a similar engine (H stamped head, red cam cover and Strombergs). I believe a few were fitted in this manner. Just another Lotus anomaly I suppose.

Strombergs were fitted to the UK cars (Plus 2 and Plus 2S as well as the Elan) in 1969; they reverted to Webbers in late 1970 according to Mile Wilkins book.

Thanks for the replies.
I was under the impression that the bonnet bulge was only introduced on the S. Obviously another "Lotus" thing.
Details shows it to be a non S, so it was obviously just on the change. (To coin a phrase.)
Sadly, darkest Lancs is a fair trot, not possible until after next week, so I'll see if it is still available then.
I imagine the stombergs might put some potential buyers off. So you never know!

My federal non-S has the bulge, which I'd heard was there to clear the tops of the Strombergs. I haven't yet eye-balled things to determine whether or not they do stick up into the bulge, but it makes sense.

Morning,
I have posted before about a number of +2's that were orginally built for the US market, modified to RH drive and sold in kits in the uk, and this car may be one. These cars had Stromburgs and mine was one of the batch, although has since gained a new head and Delorto's. There were a few other peculiarities, safety lights and the boot release on the passenger side. I think the block also had an I prefix. My serial number is 2192.
