Hi, at the weekend I had my 'new' plus 2 delivered. Someone has started a complete restoration but decided not to complete it. A great deal of work has been done but for example the engine is stripped as is the engine bay.

One of the first jobs on my list is to clean and paint the engine bay before re installing all the bits. The only problem is that I don't know where the various engine bay fixtures and fittings came from. What I really need are several shots of a standard plus 2 engine bay showing where everything is mounted. My car is a 1972 right hand drive model.

Can anyone oblique with some nice photos?

Nic

Nic,

Welcome to Elan ownership. I would start here at this thread. It has 150+ photos of engine bays: lotus-talk-f50/elan-engine-bays-stock-modified-restored-and-26r-t21231.html

Hi Nic and welcome

I don't think that I would start at the topic suggested by Jeff as it's all about non-standard engine bays, and for the 2 seat Elan...very different to your car.

Do you have a fuse box in the dash, under a wooden cover? If so then I have a lot of detail photos of the engine bay of an unrestored car, from 1973, that could be useful.

If yiu have the earlier car then it won't have the fusebox in the dash, and my photos won't be the best reference for you.

Thanks Jeff, I think they are probably all (could be wrong) Elans not Plus two which is what I'm after

Hi Mark, yes my car has the fuse box in the dash so those photos you have sound just right.

Hi Nic,

Welcome to the forum and most importantly to the ownership of a +2. Where about in Kent are you? I am in South East London and regularly take mine for a spin in Kent. I bought it last year, it's a 1968 +2 white with gold roof and wheels.

Would be difficult in winter but would be happy to get to you with the car and you can take as many pictures as you want/need or I can send you some in the mean time. Just send pm with what you need exactly.

Speak soon and have fun!

Here are some to be getting on with!
Download them to your PC so you can see the detail, as they are fairly high resolution

Thanks Mark and all for the photos, these are excellent and will really help me put things back in the correct places - always a good thing to do.
