Ok, a very quick vote
Lotus elan +2s 130 1974...
Buying paint tomorrow morning
Definitely white but should I go Cirrus or Monaco ?
Monaco is the 1974 colour....
Not the original colour, but I want a period lotus colour.

This is my new car, not sure of the colour exactly as it arrived two weeks ago (in the morning as I left on a two week holiday) and I bought it blind!
It is a lovely colour, that much I am sure of and from examples seen in this topic it looks like it could be Monacco white.
Hope that helps.

I have a Plus 2, in (I believe?) a very tatty, cirrus white. A perfect colour for the car.
But having read one of the earlier contributions here, I think I'd prefer to be able to say, I have a Lotus in Monaco!

OK. I went cirrus white. (2k)
All painted now. Tried to upload a pic last night and failed....
Will try again later from a real computer (not a phone)
But for now a new question:
Rear bumper is original but rusted out. I blasted it and repaired with fibreglass so now it looks good in primer ! While i wait for a new rear bumper that actually fits..Should I go .. gold (sprint) body colour. Black or Silver....

Yup. Chrome.
And don't bother getting a "new" one, wherever
they are.
Just take your repaired bumper and get someone to wrap it in chrome-look 3M wrap or whatever. That will look the part! And a lot cheaper, more worry-free, etc.
And it's a bolt-on part; you can always change it out, renew the wrap, etc.

Good idea. .
I found someone local to me who offered to do both bumpers for ?400
As I can get my front bumper real chromed for ?200 I was dissapointed with the price...
Although there is an 11 week lead on the chrome and same day for the wrap....

Do they do any prep work for that price or just stretch wrap it? If so it does seem quite expensive (for a same day service
) I'd love to see some photos if you decide to wrap it. Very tempting, although I think If I could get a good quality re-chrome for ?200 I'd go for that

Given that stretch chrome film on the ALSA website sells retail for $8US a square foot, and I can't see that any pro film wrap installer could possibly need an hour to wrap a Plus 2 bumper . . . yes, I'd be disappointed in that price, too.
I haven't seen the chrome wrap in person. If I could, and liked it, I would order the product direct from ALSA and wrap it myself. Tons of help online for wrapping.
Just my 2 pence . . . not at that place yet, myself, but plan to wrap at least my original Vitaloni Sebring mirror, as the plastic body is cracked. Already done the fiberglass repairs to it . . . just waiting to see chrome wrap product in person to assess.

Metalising is the alternative I looked at.
But bumpers are too big !
I am going to have my plus 2 side lights done for ?70 versus new ones for more than double that....each
Basically it is aluminium paint applied in a vacuum to leave a chrome like finish.... it's used extensively on modern Mercedes and other cars to "chrome" plastics
Search the interweb for VMC if you want to checkout a UK company....

Like that process. But the companies I've checked in the US say their process is not for exterior parts.
