I am trying to push a little, I want to set a goal of getting the Chassis rolling again by Easter.

The body is now off the car, but the DPO had painted the galvanised chassis with ?? but guess what it did not stick in many places, I have more or less cleaned up the mess and am ready to repaint, Hammerite do a special paint for Galvanised Steel which is what I plan to use unless anyone has other suggestions ? I can?t paint at the moment its just a little too cold so still have time to consider the best paint option.

I am a POR15 fan but not sure i would use it with a galvanised chassis as probably a bit overkill and would need primer + POR15. Other options are powder coating but I'd probably just hammerite it I think.

I also thought POR15 but I can't find anything about painting galvanised steel. I also thought that POR15 did not like primer, I will send them an email and see what they say.

I did not think there was much difference in price between Hammerite and POR15, and over kill is good if it will last for ever, the only difference would be time and the cost of the extra primer, but then its still not crazy money.

"For proper adhesion to aluminum, galvanized metal, and smooth steel surfaces, prep with POR-15? METAL-READYT Rust Remover/PrePrimer. Keep surface wet for 15 minutes, then rinse off with water and dry thoroughly. This process will leave a zinc phosphate coating on the metal and insure perfect adhesion."

POR15 worked really well on my original Chassis but that has the ruff surface POR15 needs. My concern is that I'd not quite get the prime stage right in awkward sports but I wouldn't know until the por15 didn't stick or came off a few years later.
