+ 2 handbrake handle

Hi,
Does anyone have a photo/diagram showing how the handbrake handle attaches to the car? Is it bolted to the steering column? Or is it attached to a bracket of some type?

Mine is canted to one side and I think this will cause problems when I try to adjust the handbrake for the MOT.

I have some brackets that came with the car but can't make out where they may fit.

The handle has been mounted on a piece of angle iron which is not an original part.

Thanks.

Keith

Hope the link works. Away from home and connected to my mobile.

Hi Keith
Think it depends how old your car is - early cars had a bracket off the pedal box
Well at least mine did

Cheers

Here is a picture from the parts manual and depending on what pedalbox you have it shows the various brackets that are attached to the pedal box screws and come off of it to capture the handbrake attachment point. Gordon Sauer

And it does go at an angle since it enters immediately next to the steering column and then ends up about halfway between the steering column and the door. Gordon Sauer

Thanks for the info, exactly what I needed. My car is a 68, and I think I've seen the top fixing during one of my scrambles in the footwell! It' stuck in my mind because of the very rough thread pattern.

Hi Keith,

http://www.rdent.com/manuals/index.html

You may have seen this link before but it is always good to put it up again for people who have not. It has all the exploded parts diagrams from the parts book for our cars. Always handy when trying to work out what that last remaining bracket was for :D

Chris.
