You're trying to make me feel good . . .

I will say, though, Mike:
*I have acquired a grudging appreciation for Bahama Yellow,
*When I get done, one of the places I'm travelling with the car is your neighborhood; you'll be able to get reacquainted with it

Never get tired of seeing that purple roof!

Randy it is a CarPoint TYBOND SMALL and lots of sellers on Amazon and eBay and I buy them when I see them on offer as they fit the MGB and Ferrari too but not quite as well tailored fit as the Lotus +2.

Now as for any car covers to be used outdoors they should carry a health warning and only used for specific reasons and not just left on the car for long periods IMHO.

Very few are actually waterproof just water resistant so the car does get damp underneath the cover unless plastic and I have seen the plastic ones actually plasticise into paint and damage the paint. Other times the plastic waterproof covers cause the paint to microblister.

Outside on wet ground a car cover left on can cause condensation underbonnet and areas like the aluminium carbs, /130 rocker/lifter covers and general appearance underbonnet soon degrades.

I only use the covers to keep cats paws, bird droppings at bay and when the farmers are harvesting for the dust when the cars are left outside overnight and always remove within a few days and air the car to dry if any longer.

The Tybond covers are cheap but not waterproof and any cover even the expensive multilayer ones like 'evolution' won't last that many years if out in rain and strong sun.

I renew mine approximately every 3 years so at ?35-40 with free deliver http://www.amazon.co.uk/Carpoint-172324 ... +car+cover I don't consider that too bad but the old cover I actually double up over the new cover for a couple of years as the cats love to scratch them whatever the make and cost.

The main thing is the three vents prevent the 'parachute' effect in strong winds and as of yet I have never had to chase a cover down the road on a windy day.

The Tybond covers appear a bit stiff at first but soften down after the first seasons use. I have had in the past 'Stormforce', Evolution, Voyager brands and these have been expensive covers and not performed any better than the cheaper Tybond by Carpoint. In fact the elastication on the Tybond has actually outperformed and lasted better than others presumably as it is not put under the same stretching in strong winds.

All the best

Steve

Tim, I didn't speak to the owner but I gather that it is a DIY job and very competent it is too.
Gareth had a chat with him and no doubt will be able to give more details.

Pete,

Yes some pictures of before and during the conversion would be nice and of course the reasons. ie was it a crashed sandwich

Looks a bit Daimler Dart /Jensen/Early Climax Elite/Early Ferrari at the front. Can't say I like the look of the front end but I do admire the quality workmanship that has been done.

Regards
