Is this a Plus 2 Lotus replacement chassis?

I am about to sell this chassis that is now surplus to requirements - underneath some grime and red paint the chassis is in excellent condition - in a previous post a member suggested it is a Lotus non-galvanised chassis - are there any identifying marks that would allow me to check this? Any suggestions about value?
Thanks

Hi David
No definitive makings as far as I know but I would say that is a standard Lotus chassis, galvanised would have a flat grey finish like the Esprit one in this link.

Standard chassis were generally finished in red oxide, yours does look in reasonable condition though.

There MAY be a number stamped in front of the N/S engine mount.
Like all things Lotus there are exceptions to the rule! My original S4 chassis never had any numbers on it and if its a replacement chassis it may never have been stamped either as they came with no numbers.
IIRC I have also seen photos of a chassis with the chasiss part number stamped into it not the Unit number..
cheers

Genuine Lotus replacement chassis were numbered and had LR as the prefix to the number. I do not know if and/or when they ceased numbering them.
Elan chassis bought from other suppliers may have lacked the number, I do not know for sure.
However, I am sure that, as Rohan points out, there will be exceptions - this is Lotus after all!

My Genuine Lotus replacement chassis in about 2002 had LR as the prefix to the number by the engine mount. However it has since been obliterated by gunk.
So difficult to tell.

I bought a new Lotus Replacement chassis second hand last year, I believe it to be 3-4 years old.
It is still bare metal & has both a Lotus replacement chassis number (LRxxxx) & the unit number of the intended recipient marked on it by the left hand engine mount.

Hi Tim
What other suppliers apart from Spyder have there been for Lotus Chassis over the years?. I got my Elan replacement chassis in 1979 from Chris Neil as a genuine Lotus replacement chassis but it had no number on it (just like my original one)
cheers

Lotus themselves.
Main one is Miles Wilkins of Fibreglass Services. This from his web site: "FS have always been one of the largest suppliers in the world for Lotus parts and this has been recognised by Lotus Cars giving FS in November 1999 all the chassis, jigs and body moulds, and on the 1st of May 2002 all the remaining parts up to 1984. We stress that we are the only people who have the original Lotus tooling, jigs and drawings for all our remanufactured parts. ie T.C.A's, chassis, rollbars, hoses etc. Lotus cars automatically give us the right to produce obsolete parts. Nobody else can do this." He gets Gartrac to make the chassis now.
And I don't know if Matty, Day and Miller bought in their chassis from Lotus directly or from Miles. Or what other suppliers like CN, Kelvedon etc have done or do now.

True, but forum members who mostly use the Active Topics link, don't see which section a message is in without a careful look at the top of page.
