Well, I bought this car blind around 6-7 years ago now as a total basket case (during a weak moment of inebriation at a party).

It arrived in the form of a totally bare shell covered in cracks and 18 layers of paint, a Spyder chassis, an engine in bits and 18 large plastic crates full of un-sorted rusty and oily parts.

After 5 years of toil I eventually drove her out of the garage yesterday.

I only have the rear screen to fit, the seatbelts, door cards and rear seast and side panels and then it's off to the MOT centre.

The car truly was a prime candidate for an Ebay 'part out' job if ever there was one and I feel rather proud to have saved another of these under rated cars! And fair play to the PO for letting me buy it rather than doubling his money splitting her up on Ebay.

Now I can't wait to get her on the road properly...just in time for Winter :(

Congratulations Jon, the car looks great, you must be well chuffed with yourself. :D

As I have been following your progress on your complete "nuts & bolts" restoration I know the difficulties and the costs of your endeavours.

It really is a labour of love, because as you have stated both you and the PO could have cashed in by selling the parts on EBay.

Again, congratulations on saving another +2

Well done Jon, it looks absolutely stunning, thats the colour mine was originally and wanted to keep it but other half wasn't so keen  and I ended up going for a darker metallic blue.

I finished mine this time last year and it went for its second MOT last Friday and it passed. To celebrate I took it away for the weekend (wife too) and had some very pleasent times drivng around the Essex coutryside :D .

Chris.

Beautiful! It put a smile on my face, on an otherwise stressful Monday.

Jono

I did a double take when I say your pictures as the registration number jumped out at me!

I owned the car for a couple of years in the early 80s and it has been resprayed even before I got it, looks superb now and you've done a brilliant job.

I have PM'd you (I think)

Ian

Congrats, Jon. Great model of perserverance; it must have been trying over those years. But now you've got a result, a reward for all those nights (and bank drafts).

Hope you finish soon and get through MOT first time. :)
