Pity they don't ask "how fast does she go?" In which case you could give them the time honoured responses....."well the starter motor went in six months, the head gasket went in a year, the water pump goes very couple of years" ....etc etc....

Well I was driving along when I noticed a youngish couple who were standing in the middle of the road after half crossing it so I slowed down and waved them across front of me. The guy just kept staring at the car and then at me and then at the car again as he was walking past. He stopped just before he passed the front passenger wing, walked back around the front of the car, down the drivers side and looked at me through the open sunroof and said: "Who do you think you are driving a Ferrari?" So I said "It's a Lotus" and he said "Oh alright then" and walked off.
It's a Welsh thing!

Non Lotus story... Sorry!
I was parking my car in our local town. Nice day.. Hood down posing weather. A guy who was passing with his misses remarked on the **** with the ''useless'' car which had no room whatsoever etc. I just gave him a somewhat surprised look before informing him the car in fact had quite a lot of boot space etc, and had not one but two boots which I opened remotely and showed him. He was gobsmacked and asked where the engine was. I told him I had no idea as I had not found it yet..
He was truly stunned and wandered off scratching his nut!
Alex B ....
Boxster S 3.4 & Elan Sprint... The car in question was, as you guessed, the Boxster.

I think the Plus 2 is at least the second best looking Lotus. Perhaps the original Elite is nicer.
Last summer I kept my car at the cottage and got lots of positive remarks. I even had a guy stop me at a rural intersection to talk. Normally I keep my car in the city, and we are a US car manufacturing town. Not much interest in Lotus cars here:)
