Id have a look at this one first. Not that there is anything wrong with the yellow car,and if its a ground up restoration your looking at it makes sence. But if your after getting on the road in a plus 2 quickly and cost effectively then maybe the white one is a better option.

There are many topics in recent times on this site and comments that would justify reasons why for the above.Even some I have put myself. Have a look and make an informed choice.

As a quick guide,

Paint, Anything from ?6000 to ?10,000
Engine and ancils, ?4000 to ?5000, There are some on ebay right now at much higher costs.
Cost of yellow car, currently ?1800

Even adding these up comes to same as white example and you will still have to build the yellow one.

Just my opinion and I have learned the hard way too.

Hi. I agree with the above post. For the current bid of ?1800 plus cost of an engine that'll run you can get a reasonable running car with an MOT. That's a much better place to start a restoration from. As you take the car to pieces you'll see first hand how everything goes together, including where the wires are routed etc etc etc. Buying one of these in boxes can be a real headache if you don't have one as a reference to check out how it goes together.

It all depends on what you want.

As said above, it would not be a short cut to getting into a +2 to go out and use but on the other hand there is great satisfaction (and no small measure of heartache) to be had in building a car from scratch. You know the car is right that way and the journey is a great learning experience.

I did look at this car and thought it would be an interesting project if that is what you're looking for.

I am in the 5th and final year of a scratch rebuild of a +2 which I bought in boxes. It has been an interesting journey and one which will mark a phase in life which I will recall for the rest of it. I might not even like the car when it's finished but that was not what it was about for me.

Joni, was this your first resto project and why do you say interesting when referring to the yellow one?

It's the self build that I fancy and FHC shells appear a bit thin on the ground!
