Thanks for those, been watching that black one for a while - bit more than I'd like to spend on a project.
I like the look of the yellow one and have emailed the seller to get some info - he won't reveal the reserve or give an asking price, so I'll have to wait and see with that one.

Re the blue car with the missing head. If the car has been standing without the head you should assume the bores are rusted, that the crank bearings may be rusted etc etc. A twink rebuild with a worn engine can cost upwards of ?3500, so add the cost of the head to that. Has the head been used as a spare, in which case you have to ask what else is second best of the bunch on the car? This may not be a concern depending on what you intend to do with it, but if you're looking to keep it with twink and not spyderise it I'd keep looking. For restoration you should be able to find a complete car with running engine (albeit smoky and not ticking over well) for around ?3k to ?4k, unless prices have gone up recently.

Update: I went for the headless Vincent Haydon car. After a couple of good chats with him regarding the overall condition of the mechanicals etc. it seemed the right one. The chassis is excellent and there is no rust in the open bores, needs paint but no less than expected. It has a lot of history going back to the 90s and includes receipts for the rebuilt 711M engine and for the Spyder chassis and galvanised sills.
He delivered it today and I'm really happy with it (so far!). It's also on Dellortos, which I prefer over Webers.
The Lagoon Blue is not the original colour so I'll be interested in the information I get back from Lotus regarding it's build.
Cheers,
Dario
