The info just keeps flowing...
Original type NRV that screws into the inlet manifold..
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mk1-Escort-Lo ... 43b51d214b
Shame about the cost, but at least now you know what it looks like.

Hi Paul ,
have you checked the condition of the diaphragms in the pods?
Suggest you put a pipe to each one in turn, then suck & blow and see response [remebering to put your finger over the second hole where there is one]. If the rods move OK and there is no air leak then they're ok ... problem lies elsewhere ...If they are leaking, you can buy new ones {expensive} but in an emergency I have managed to 'unseal ' a pod and reseal it after repairing a hole in the rubber diaphragm with a bicycle puncture repair kit. ( there's a separate thread here somewhere)
Suffice it to say , the pod I bought remains in the box unopened as the emergency repair still works fine 1 year later .
good luck

Thanks,
I think i did see a post on repairing them when i checked through the site, but im quite sure they arent leaking. ive defo not got a nrv,ive just checked the whole system so will now look at getting some of those, spares are always helpful. That will help elinimate the problem,if it doesnt then i have a sneaky feeling it could be getting expensive.but while i was under i did have a good prod with a sharp screw driver and it does seem well, surprising considering all the reports of coroded chassis's.So im hopeful its not a leaking resovoir. Ill let you all know when i get back and fit the nrv
Thanks guys
Paul

Hi, I know this is off topic....
But
Pauljones915 appears to be the owner of KXC873H. A car I know well as I owned it from 1999 until 2003. Before that knew the owner who had it from 1985. If you want any details or pictures I would be glad to send them.
If you are not interested, no worries!
Good luck and glad the old girl is in good hands!

Dave,
I am indeed the very proud and happy owner of kxc873h or Sophie as my kids like to call her. Ive owned her from 2006 and purchased her from a local garage near Bere Regis in sleepy Dorset. She is a fantastic car but takes a lot to keep running right and as I openly admit due to a lack of skill and time its quite an expensive hobby..But then again a few mods have been extreme, such as the EFI conversion.
Id love to hear about her previous history, perhaps I can PM you my details and we can have a chat.?
She is in good hands I think, and I am a genuine petrol head who loves classics. Thanks for posting up with the info
Happy Xmas,Paul

Hi Paul, you can of course PM me, I would be happy to share my memories of a much missed machine....
For me it all got too expensive having a small child and at the time an Elan M100 and the +2! I think it was in 2005 that the car was sold having a rotten chassis. Was sold on Ebay to a dealer.
In my time she cost a fortune as we treated her to a full engine rebuild, new diff output shafts , the previous owner had fitted spyder wishbones.
As I say I have some pics that I can mail to you!
Have a great Christmas!
Cheers
