Hello all,
Have you spotted this ? I think the description says it all
[urlhttp://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lotus-Elan-2-Cabriolet-1969-Requires-Total-Restoration-due-fire-/270844854093?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item3f0f9c7f4d][/url]
At least it's MOT'd & Taxed, so no worries there, makes my task look like an evenings work!
Regards, Tim

Tim,
That's an above average offering from UK Sportcars, allegedly they often misrepresent the quality of their cars for sale
Seriously, maybe the twin cam engine, gearbox and diff can be salvaged, hence it might be worth buying. If you hadn't stored your +2 and wanted to start again, you would be looking ?10k + for anything decent now.
Regards

I assume as it's MOT'd to August 2012 you could just drive it home
19 bids so far, I have had to put it in my "watch list", curiosity has got the better of me!
It has clearly been VERY hot .......would anything be useable? The block possibly, but I'm not sure I'd want any of it

Brings a whole new meaning to the word 'cabriolet', open air motoring to the extreme
Seriously though, it brought a tear to my eye, seeing what it obviously was not so long ago & what it is now, Someone must be gutted ! Could happen to any of us, keep your extinguishers handy !!!

That's just plain sad... Looks like a car that they previously sold or were in the process of selling.
I thought the wheels might still be good, but no, damaged them dragging the car onto the trailer.
Bidding is up to GBP510, I can't imagine there being anything left that would be useful. Someone's either knicked the Weber or Dellorto's or they totally melted!

Is the transporter included?
On a more serious note, I think that the photos of the blue +2 were added in error; clearly these are the remains of a 26/R Shapecraft which could "easily be restored". Allegedly UK Sportscars know their onions from a hole in the ground, so I'll up the bidding, on the off-chance that they discover a full set of FIA papers which were not in the vehicle at the time of the (insurance) fire. Allegedly.

Why not?

Well that changes everything. I simply hadn't realised what an opportunity we were being offered

I can't see that there would be a single useful component left on that...certainly nothing aluminium on the engine or diff!

Well, it's a pre 1973 example therefore the V5 has value. Even though it looks a right pile of bits, there is still stuff that can be salvaged. It's a clone something from Bitsas project rather than a restoration mind you.
What's the betting on a ?2k + winning bid?

So you want someone to bet you 2k which you will win to cover the 2k bid you are going to make.....very clever
