Hi all, just been to see a guy about getting my rear bumper stripped and rechromed. He gave me a price of ?270  . i know his work is really good but ive never had any rechroming done before and wondered if the price is fair?

Hi Franco

If the quality is accecptable that's a good price. Just remember though, it's all too easy for a plater to mess up an otherwise good bumper and if that happens sourcing a replacement is going to be a nightmare

For comparison Derby Plating's work is second to none, but they are ?100 more than you've been quoted.

Andy

i was recommended by a rolls royce restorer and seen his work which was top notch. i was toying with the idea of buying a new bumper but noticed that a lot of people on here saying they dont fit right.

Hi Franco,

I will be having both my bumpers done soon and had got quotes ranging from ?130-?300 for each bumper. Where abouts are you and who did you get your quote from? I think if you get a recommendation for something like this and can see some of the work they have done previously it makes it a bit easier.

Hi Chris,

Im based in Liverpool and the companys name is Willochrome in St Helens, they had done all the chrome work for a classic rolls royce i have seen and it was flawless to be honest. i just didn't want to get ripped off but for good quality it seems the price is about right. It works out to about ?35 per foot, i'm just glad my front bumper is really good.

John

If it is any comfort, you have taught us all to say "Do not, under any circumstances, grind off that lip - and please write that on the job card"! It worked for me and I would not have said it unless I had read about your horrible experience.

So thank you for sharing with us....

Hi all, I know being cryptic is all good fun....there is a tendency to think up the the most obtuse (inventive?) titles for the posts, but...

Come on, think of the next bloke trying to extract some data from this vast archive and at least give one word in the title that pertains to the topic.

Mr Slimromeo,

I think you are missing the point.....if I wanted to look up what people had said about chroming bumpers etc in a years time I do not think this topic would come up on an archive search, the archives do contain a myriad of information useful to us all at some time or another.

Does the search facility scan just the subject only and not the content?

Both, just not very well.

Better to use an outside search engine really
