Terry, this summer's efforts have been hampered by us moving house.

In between unpacking boxes, I'm trying to assemble the doors. I then have the interior including the dash and its wiring to do. The original interior is in one piece so can be bolted in as is to get the car on the road and through an MOT. I have new carpets for the boot and car and a new fuel tank. Under the bonnet I need to take a grinder to the inner wing and make the inlet duct fit. There's also the brake servo - plan there is just to send the parts of mine off and pay for a re-refurb - time's the issue. The rest is done although things like the windscreen wipers are not tested. I put the rear screen in just before the move, and assembled the driver's side door up to the window motor. I need the striker to get the passenger door to the same state.

So actually lots to do but all manageable stuff. Biggest problem seems to be getting parts at the moment and of course finding time to work on the car - same old excuse.

Count me in (1972 S130/4). Only thing that could get in the way is a house move to France - but maybe I can combine the two !!

I would dump the Girling Servo - a reconditioned one gave me endless trouble with the brakes sticking on etc. Read pages of posts on how to try and fix the thing. there is a solution - fit a Girling servo and then forget.

Hi. I have looked at the lockheed alternative. I'll make that decision at the time. Or I'll just leave the bypass pipe in and not have a servo.

Hi Sean,
why do you need to take a grinder to the inner wing on the inlet side?
Has someone fitted the wrong engine mounting to that side? Both sides don't use the same height mounting

Hi. I don't have enough clearance to get the carb inlet duct past the radiator. The radiator is an aftermarket one that is wider etc, and during the restoration of the bodywork the inner wing was built up with additional fibreglass and filler. I've considered K&N filters directly onto the carbs, and putting the duct through a hole in wing and through the wheel arch back into the nose, but I think cutting the inner wing back around the rad and bonnet cross bar is the easiest solution. There's plenty of glass there to support it, and as long as I can make up the glass to maintain the strength it should be fine. I did start a thread on this about 6 months ago and have sat on the problem since while we moved house and I got on with other bits of the car. I will probably use a dremel in place of an angle grinder - just something other than a file - I have already cut it back with a file but not enough unfortunately.

I've just rec'd my UK Club Lotus News and your letter on page 6 led me to this topic.

I'm a bit confused.

Is this the same meeting as the one previously discussed between us and Serge - a Club Lotus France Classic meeting, and therefore open to any Classic Lotus (as defined by Club Lotus France - broadly speaking anything prior to the Elise generation) and for which I thought a date had been set? Or is this a different meeting for Plus Two's only?

It would be useful to know, please, as your existing (???) Club Lotus France Classic meeting based around your Gites and taking place in Charente-Maritime is down for mention on the agenda at our regional AGM in Bordeaux...

No, its actually a different event only for +2's for April 2011. Serge had an idea to get as many +2s together as possible from the two countries. something that is going to be very exciting as we may get well into double figures.
The other Charente WE (CLF Event) at our gites is all as planned and open to all Classic Lotus on the 13,14 &15th May 2011

Once we have set a date (Provisionally the 9/10th April) for the +2 event which is open to anyone with a +2 that can get to France we will announce everywhere!

Thanks for the clarification - all is now clear.

As I said, your CLF meeting is to be mentioned at our regional AGM in Bordeaux on November 6 - will you be coming?

If you have a summary of your CLF event you could pass me I'll be happy to circulate it, both at the AGM and via email to the CLF Classic members in our region. Your "+2" event too, of course, but I can only think of Serge S. in our region that has one other than yourself.

crikey, a very loud bang in the airport - scary stuff - I'm sat in charles de gaulle paris at the moment, and security just did a controlled explosion of unattended baggage with no warning at all. That woke me up.

You'll have to make the +2 meet an annual event so that in about 5 years time when I have mine on the road I can come over for it!!
