Time to start the restoration project

Hi All,

I acquired a +2 non-runner 7 years ago and planned to rebuild but never started. Finally, it is time to start and I has completely stripped out the interior, gas tank, dashboard. Next week would attack the engine compartment, then body off to the body shop to has it re-fibre, re-gel....

I'm in Hong Kong and the car is a convertible in black colour (CN conversion).

1973 +2 130/5
Chassis # 73121974L
Engine # P/31909

From the documents came with the car, the engine had received QED Q420 upgrade.

The car has customized colour scheme black with gold strip........looks like the show car but the top chopped in the photo attached.

Does anyone has any idea about the background of the car?

Thanks,
Ennio

Hi. So is that the same plus 2 at the show, or is that the target? Shame you've had no replies. There is a contact at the Lotus factory that can help with the history, and, if the car was in the uk then the DVLA have a form that you can fill in and send to get copies of the registration docs that have been issued. I've got all mine and met one of the owners at the southwest classic car show last year. He gave me a few photos and was bemused to see the pics I had of the car, since it was in one piece when it had left his hands.

All the best.

Sean.

Ennio,

Interesting car if you look at the details of the two cars such as the wheels and the colored bumpers and the world champion side strip as well as the lotus livery on the lower flanks one can possibly conclude they are the same car as these details seem to be one off features for the show car , The CN conversion became available around 84 so this was obviously done in that time frame, I found this old CN newsletter with news on the CN cabriolet from 1984

Do you intend to keep the current livery ?

Hi B&G,

I haven't decided the colour scheme yet.

But the wording "WORLD CHAMPION" looks a little bit high profile, doesn't it? But Lotus is participating in F1 again, may be it will become "WORLD CHAMPION" again when I finish the project.

And I really don't like the big "LOTUS" under the side trim!
