I will go out, just after I've posted this...

Approximately 119 identifiable cars have been advertised in the usual, and some unusual places in the last year.

20 were blue (including yours Terry - shame you lost L'homme Michelin), 45 red, 12 white, 8 yellow (including mine), and various other colours in lesser numbers.

Newly put up for sale in the last three months were: 4 blue, 8 red, 1 yellow, 1 white, 1 green.

I was shopping, and now can't break the habit!
Exceedingly yellow '68 +2

Todays top tip: create a spooky lighting effect by forgetting to switch off and remove your torch from the nose area before refitting the grille.

WOW! and I thought I was the only one who was addicted to looking on about seven sites to see what's selling
Yes Michelin was lost by previous owner on the way onto a ferry in the rain (it was stuck on the outside) it came loose and was lost. The car did look good with it. I've tried to replace it but the previous owner had got it from a friend in a truck tyre shop.
I've surprised you found mine , can you remember where you saw it advertised? ( I found it on Devon Classic Cars web site)

All the very best

Terry
PS So there seems to be a lot of people selling Red cars!!!!!!!!

Those >10K ones hang around for quite a while.

I found yours Terry, with some Googling (lotus elan plus 2 for sale uk) - it was very well hidden, was for sale for quite a while (since last March), and looked like a good find. It's always worth it occasionally to scoop up that extra one - as an obsesive searcher too, I'm sure you'll understand.

I live fairly nearby, and it sounded like a good car and well priced, so vowed to have a look when next in that direction. It's a '74 car though (and I checked its first reg date) so I wasn't so interested figuring there are enough for sale without having an eternal tax liability - not a problem for you taking it to France. Well done in getting it - sounds like it was worth it.

I liked the Michelin Man though. It seemed to suit the car in a period sort of a way ;-)

If you're from that neck of the woods originally and back with the car, get in touch. It would be nice to see what I missed out on.

Cheers,

Andy[/i]

I think I got a good deal albeit the car has some rust issues on all the suspension and anything that was exposed (I think due to salty air) and a slightly worn water pump, apart from that pretty good.
It was for sale for a long time but I don't think it was marketed very well only being on their web site and as you say well hidden....but not from us!

I see you went for a yellow 1968. I like the early cars. I fitted early seats to mine!

Yes there is no tax issue in France but unfortunately an emissions issue for post 1973 so oops! A friendly Controle Technique station and all was well. Has to be below 4.5 CO2 at idle

You too pop in if you are passing in yours , its always good to meet a fellow owner. We had a fellow forum member last year in one of the gites (Also with a blue +2)

I'm on the hunt now for another Michelin man .....

All the best

Terry
