OOOps i`ve started something now
Thanks mark & others for your comments thats cleared alot up for me , i`m sure it will all be in the owners manual, but i have not got it yet its still with the previous owner...yes i thought you didn`t need a choke on dellortos as i didn`t have tone on my escort that had the same carbs?I have got the original pull thingty so i`ll just pop it back in..
I realise there are better ways for the headlights to pop but i want to get the car back to the original as i can... so i think most of these parts are availible oh well thats good i just be carefull how i take it apart and make sure i put it back the same way with the new parts i`ll just take plenty of photographs? you refer to the solenoid is that the thing with the button that you push to make the headlights pop up (under the bonnet near the servo) I remember that there was a problem going up from inside the car so you had to put them up by pushing this button I will put on a photograph...
So you reckon I don`t need to take the suspension off the car to do the sills ,, oh well tha`ts fine i`ve got the spider sills I was wanting to put the sills in before it went for painting and do the suspension after the paint so all the new parts don`t get covered in bodyshop overspray etc etc.
Thanks for the info guy`s

your car is looking good. why did you finally decide to fit a new chassis?
i'm pleased to see that it's a lotus galvanised chassis. well done keep it original. i have a 1973 elan plus2 130/4 but it still has it's original chassis. it was also lagoon blue new and is now carnival red with oatmeal seats

What a brilliant thread - and I wouldn't even have seen it but for today's updates! You've done a fantastic job there, John; can't be too long before you get it back on the road again. I reckon you should revert to the silver metal-flake roof, but maybe that's because my own Plus 2 is Lagoon Blue with a metal-flake roof. It's such a beautiful combination.

Great to have the updates, John!!! The colour is beautiful!
I have to ask: where did you get the trolley for the body?? It almost looks like it cound stradle the chassis, have the body placed on it, and then lower the body down with some mechanism on the trolle till you had it fitted to the chassis . . . am I imagining things???

see some more pics as you can see i opted for the 2 Genie lifts which worked great ,managed to do the lift within an hour from start to finish which i was really surprised as to how easy it was .. as i had been dreading doing that job since I got the car Anyway all done now and still got alot to do before she gets on the road..

the body shop fitted new hinges and that sorted the door dropping thing so i was really impressed with the body shop i used but the said it was a bit of a nightmare so glad they done that job , overall can`t fault the paint job i was going to revert back to the metal flake roof but i wanted the car back to the why i remembered the car all them years ago as its been all blue for as long as i can remember..

Thanks Ned
Good Luck with your Project Ned I`m fortunately at the stage now of sourcing parts to finish mine off, this is a great site and had advice from the guys on here .. definitely fit your new sills prior to the body lift.. the body will flex, I had a new rolling chassis ready for me to lift the body off the old one and replace with the new one..

Oh well here goes over the last few months I have taken the last final push to get work done to the +2 ...all electrics done all the brakes done engine running and for the first time in 31 years (1985) i reversed the wee car out the garage ( to clear up the mess of brake fluid, oil gearbox oil etcetc ) so basically all is well not quite ready for MOT yet but very very close .. was so tempted to take her a wee hurl round the block but no not yet .. can't say how happy I am to have the car moving under its own steam in all that time.... so will keep you guys updated from now here is some photos
