Not sure why you're Fedup, it looks a great job and an excellent colour. Can you tell us what the colour is and who painted it please?

Thanks colour is audi lquid blue painted and prepaired by Mick Hadley Autos ltd Brierley Hill West Midlands. Back to gel coat and retissued all over reshaped and painted they have done a excellent job i do believe they do work for Paul Mattys .
I may need to change my users name ?

Price for removing paint to gel repair were needed and applying a complete layer of tissue.reshaping and painting ?4300 but as you can appreciate condition of bodyshell will dictate price .

Sounds like a reasonable price to me. Looks great. It's at a similar point in the restoration as my own +2 - I'm starting to put the shiny bits back on... very satisfying!

Hi

It does look good but...... it is a lot of money. I'll swap you my shabby one :lol:

I was quoted ?4k to ?5k to paint mine and as the car is worth ?5k to ?6 I decided to leave it be. I am learning to love the shabbiness of it :lol:

Hopefully one day the wife will pay for the paint job for Christmas :lol: :lol:

Mine is at that point too; although i got there at a fraction of the price: ?1250. as labor costs are so low here in Malta.

Shiny bits are on, now i just need to sort out the brakes, cooling, carbs, tires etc.

Hmm, now there's a thought - ship the car over to Malta to have the bodywork sorted. At those prices we'd probably still finish ahead. And, expanding on that thought, anyone know of a really good fibreglass repair/vehicle sprayshop in eastern Europe?

I have been quoted ?5600 for mine, and the guy told me that mine was in quite good shape :shock:
On the Eastern European front, a work mate watched a restoration programme on sky TV and they took a car to Poland for a complete body restoration and paint. I think the cost was around ?1500 mark, cant be certain.

Yes, I saw a Sky program on an old Rover SD1 (can't understand why anyone would want to spend so much in one of those!).

Does anyone know of a fibreglass specialist in eastern Europe?

you could always drive it down to Malta; my best friend just drove his boxter down from Glasgow in 2-3 days, then catch a ryanair back up.

the advantage of malta being that everyone is fluent in english & it has better transportation links to the Uk than eastern European states.
