Lotus Show?

PostPost by: elan_fan » Thu May 06, 2004 7:08 pm

What do you all think of the UK club Lotus show? or more exactly it's timing? I really would like to see it held in the summer. I seem to remember something about expense but at the end of the day my car is not out of moth balls in march and I would happily pay double and take my car or both cars should I ever get the plus 2 finished  I'm sure there would be triple the turn out of cars. I went to Lotus 89 which was the first joint meeting between the LDC and club Lotus and it included a track day there were enough cars there to have a row for each model and of course if I remember rightly it was in july. what do you all think?

regards
Mark

I assume you mean Donnington?

Yes far too early in the year to see a big turn out of classic Lotus models. If mine was on the road it probably wouldn't be (If you know what I mean!)

I think there should be a law that car shows are only held on nice hot summer days

Hi ,
As a local Club Lotus branch , http://uk.geocities.com/clublotusbboa/ we hold 2 events/shows in the summer . We attend the Uxbridge Car Show , http://www.uxbridge-autoshow.com/ , and a Concours event at our local meeting place . The Uxbridge show is always in July and we have more Lotus attending each year . The Concours attendance in August is also becomming a very busy event . I do not know your location in the UK but both events are well worth attending .
All details are on the web site . http://uk.geocities.com/clublotusbboa/

I quite agree. My S4 was still in lots of bits when it was show time. It would be nice to see a Club Lots and LDC show in the summer.

However there are plenty of other events to go to.

Brands Hatch CSMA Classic festival
Silverstone Historic festival
Classic Le Mans
Paul Matty Hill Climb Shesley Walsh (sp?)

It would be nice if the Lotus clubs were to organise a Lotus area / parking at some of these events. I realise that the clubs are much smaller but I am also a member of Porsche Club GB and they do this sort of thing all the time. I have to say that in general I have been disappointed with Club Lotus and what it has to offer. I have yet to look at LDC perhaps I should join?
