Lotus Elan and Lotus Elan Plus 2 Forums

Hi All ,

Having acquired my first Elan & excitingly joined Club Lotus 40 years ago .... I was amazed to find out , that there wasn`t an Area Meeting back then in Nottinghamshire ... & I`m not sure there ever has been since !??

So , I`m thinking ... would there be enough interest from elan.net & Club Lotus Members to form , a new monthly Saturday Lunchtime meet in my neck of the woods , in North Nottinghamshire ???

If you aren’t too late can you get a mention in Club Lotus magazine?

My geography is a bit shaky north of London, but is the Derbyshire meet of the LDC anywhere near you?

The LDC are a far more active club, I've just rejoined them after a 40 year hiatus and they are a welcoming bunch. You might want to have a look at the Midland Lotus Club: https://www.midlandslotus.co.uk/

Club Lotus are very low key in my area, the nearest meeting is in Cambridgeshire, mind you the LDC meet is in Warwickshire both being equidistant from my home in Northamptonshire!

Yeh , I`m surrounded by lovely little Club Lotus Meets , that I`ve been attending for years in the neighbouring counties ... but I really think it`s time Nottinghamshire had one of it`s own ... & it can triple up as Club Lotus , LDC , elan.net plus any other Lotus Fanatics - All Welcome ?

I plan to speak to Club Lotus again ( they are very keen ) ... but just putting the feelers out for interest first ....

Hi Paul,

I’m still tinkering around with my S4 after your suggestion of an engine bay ‘refresh’. After 20 years of slumber every time I do one thing I find two more that need doing. Back on the road next year hopefully, just not sure which next year that will be, but hopefully 2023

Anyway back on topic, I’d be keen to attend a Nottinghamshire Lotus meet if there is enough interest. The King Billy at Scaftworth serves a good pint.

Paul, we'd pop down for a meeting once mine's properly on the road. Just as long as it isn't the 2nd Saturday of the month as I'll be at the Nag's Head.

I`m thinking the First Saturday of every month to fit in nicely with the brilliant East Yorkshire meet on the 2nd Saturday ... & yes , the King Billy would be a great shout , along with The Reindeer at Sturton Le Steeple ... I shall go & see both Landlords .

I`m pleased to hear you are making progress Rob ... if it`s any comfort we`ve just spent a year "fettlin`" my lovely Sprint Drophead ... you`ll have to pop over during the Xmas break to see it !

Annmarie at CL should be able to issue a mail shot a couple of times to help get you going. I do wonder whether a Saturday is a good day with so much else on/to do. Would a more leisurely Sunday get more attendees?

To get the snowball rolling , I have now been confirmed as the New Nottinghamshire Area Leader for Club Lotus !o!

I`ll still be looking for a Co-Leader to come on board ... preferably somebody who is more familiar with the modern Loti (I`m more Chapman Old School ) ... & so far , the consensus is that a Saturday Lunchtime meet is best , on the first one of each month .

I`m also checking out further potential venues this weekend ... & an announcement will be made in due course ...

Meanwhile , if anybody else wants to get involved , feel free to pm me .... & as previously said , I would most welcome the LDC & fellow elan.net members to team up at this meeting .

GOOD NEWS ... after checking a few options out ( which is why I didn`t see you at The Nags Head ) , we have a lovely Venue confirmed !o!

"THE REINDEER" at Sturton Le Steeple (DN22 9HQ ) on the First Saturday of each Month ( 12noon onwards ) , with the "Official Launch" on Saturday the 1st of April !o!

The launch of the Nottinghamshire Lotus Meeting , is only a week tomorrow now (1st of April 12-3pm ) ... & we are hoping for a great turn out , especially with classic Elans & Plus 2`s !o!

The Reindeer is putting on a special "Lotus Menu" (no need to book ) ... & the great lads at Central Lotus are bringing a new Emira !o!
