VALENTINES DAY - HOW MUCH DO YOU LOVE YOUR LOTUS
It's that time of year when last year's photos are sorted out, which for Family Chapman include Colin's grand-daughter Sophie's marriage to Tom Hutchinson. Sophie and Tom set off from East Carleton in their much loved Elan S4 for a Covid induced honeymoon that took them to Cornwall (and back, with only a slight hiccup of a wobbly wheel).

Born, and brought home from the hospital (no seat belt (wtf)) in a baby!

It may have been done intentionally to hold up the 'Just Married' sign, but they seem to have made a dog's breakfast out of folding the hood. Colin would be rolling in his grave.

I wonder if the word Marred was mis-spelt intentionally ?

That beautiful Elan was/is a Peter Day restoration and was owned by a member on here a while back.
Good luck to them both......

Yes, it changed hands at close to £50k., which for an S4 is pretty amazing, even if it was restored by the best. It just goes to show you what can be achieved, even if that particular model is not held in such high esteem as other models.
The first thing I do if I buy an Elan with the hood non removeable, is make it removeable. Hoods don't last long if they are all creased up.
One of my biggest regrets is not buying a fixed head Sprint that was for sale in Cambridge, that had been restored by Peter Day. It was about 12 years ago, and since the vendor had had it restored, 10 years prior, the car sat outside his house, as he did not have a garage. Would you Adam and Eve it. I could have bought it for £8.5k. Car went to Germany. It was advertised on here. You live and learn.
