62 Seven S2

Thanks to Henry (SENC), a kind member of this group who tipped me off to this car, I'm now a deeper into my Lotus addiction. It's a '62 S2. Same owner since 1977. Ford 1500 with GT head and Dells. Unfortunately, it has standard Seven bad history with a replaced frame and lost chassis plate. But it's a blast to drive, and the lack of history is the only reason I could afford it.

Thrilled to hear it drives well - it is unbelievably hard not to smile while driving a Seven, isn't it! That feeling trumps any pedigree or provenance!

Looking forward to more pictures and details as you mess with it - I need to update my thread, but I'm knee-deep in engine/gearbox rebuild and while those are out of the car I'm touching most other systems, too, so almost everything is accessible at the moment if you need specific pictures or measurements.

If you haven't found it, yet, usa7s.net is another good forum, focused on Sevens. Most members have newer models from Caterham and others, so not the focused and deep 60s Lotus knowledge found here - but a very friendly group and there are several that have or have had cars our vintage that have been very helpful.

I just bought SB1416. It hopes to vintage race a bit this year. John

I've had one or two in the past and I recently did some work on one for a friend, but my true love, has and will always be, the Elan.

Fabulous! Kind of makes me reconsider fitting Webers onto my FWB.
