Old Time Lotus Dealers

I have just gone through the Certificate of Provenance process with Andy Graham and learned that my '73 Lotus Elan +2S 130 was originally sold to Dicksons Motors with branches in Forres and Perth, Scotland. It was sold to them as a dealer demonstrator which they apparently kept for three years until it's first registered owner in 1976. I was able to determine that Dicksons is still in business at both locations although not as a Lotus dealer anymore. I've tried contacting both dealerships in the hopes that some old-timers may still be around that might remember my car being around for so many years but no luck so far.

Wondering if anyone on the forum might have had any contact with Dicksons back in the day and have a lead or two that I might follow up on? At some point in time, my car underwent a CN Cabriolet conversion which I have not been able to track down either. I have only identified one previous owner who had it from 1991 to 2001 who informed me that the conversion had been done previous to him. The first owner was a Merchant Navy Engineer living in Whittle Le Woods, Chorley in case anyone has any suggestions on where to search UK Navy Records.

Lastly, trying the friend-of-a-friend route, anyone here that might have done some spirited drives, wrenching, beer drinking with any of the previous owners of my car:

Gordon William Topping Whittle Le Woods, Chorley)
Paul Barry Crofts (Cleveleys, Blackpool)
A.T. Whitehead (Blackpool)
David John Lindsley (Heywood, Lancashire)
Mark Sleep (Deal, Kent)

Get over to 192.com buy some credits and get searching.

Also I believe Find my Past.com has free military records searches at the moment so worth a look.

I’d be surprised if ChrisNeil didn’t have records of your car. Give Don a ring in parts I find him both p,easant and helpful.
