Good Service - Burton Performance

PostPost by: Matt Elan » Thu Aug 20, 2020 10:52 am

Retorqued the cylinder head on the Plus 2 the day before yesterday, but broke the fairly new cam cover gasket when I took the cover cover off. Ordered a new gasket and sealing washers yesterday morning; they arrived today before midday - great service! Usual caveats apply; now off to pop the cam cover back on!

Matthew, Burton Perfomance have supplied a number of parts for my project (before Covid) and I have been impressed as well.

A very impressive outfit. If things go wrong they are immaculate in their administration. Good chaps. No axe etc.............just a happy bunny. :D

I have used them for projects on several cars and have found their service and parts quality high. I am purchasing from the other side of the pond and appreciate that once you find a "name" the service gets better.
I have seen some complaints re: their prices/shipping fees, but honestly they are reliably fast and I take this into account - if time is not an issue, then I can look somewhere else.
I don't think that they will take over from the specialist Lotus guys, but they are a great resource.

I've used them for various parts and shipping has been fast and reasonably priced over here to Australia. Also a happy camper.

They are certainly not better and in some cases worse than a lot of other UK based suppliers.
They ramped up their shipping costs to extortionate levels especially for small items using Covid as an excuse. Other suppliers did not do so and shipping remains reliable from them despite Covid.
If it's a run of the mill stock item service is good and prompt. If the item is out of stock or it's something a bit obscure, or you have to argue about getting your money back for something that's of poor quality then service sometimes is not so good.

As an example of a really great internet based parts ordering experience I often use US based boat.net for one of my other hobby interests - small power equipment engines.

Parts diagrams on line, when an item is unavailable it's listed as unavailable, when it's not in stock they tell you exactly when it will be in stock with 100% reliability. When you place an order you can search the status and they email you a tracking number as soon as it's shipped (something the UK suppliers don't do - you have to contact them to ask for it). Shipping to Australia pre-Covid was extremely cheap. Since Covid rather than rip people off they have ceased direct shipping internationally but I've gotten around that issue by using an excellent Portland based freight forwarder.
