Incentive to keep Elan in running condition

As we are experiencing another major fire in Napa and environs, I am glad that my car is drivable and able to be evacuated if need be. Fire is about 10 miles or so away but I don't think it is headed our way.
I was nervous a month or so ago with my engine and gearbox out of the car. In case of emergency, my plan was to put the engine and gearbox in the back of my truck and drive that out. Especially the custom built Vegher engine - hard to replace. Then hitch the rolling Elan onto the back of my SUV and tow it out as well. Would have been a bit of a struggle especially if pressed for time.
So, it is an incentive to keep my Elan in running condition at all times in case I need to vacate quickly. Besides family and pets, the Elan is at the top of my list to save. Had it too long (50+ years) and done too much to it to lose it.
Never used to worry about this but it is the "new normal".

Naury, if it gets bad enough you feel the need to evac, you can leave your Elan in our driveway in SW Santa Rosa; I can move my FJ onto the street. We are on a street with a fire station, so are one of the last to get rolling blackouts, and we get very fast emergency fire response.

Very gracious of you! Right now we are not in danger.elangtv2000 wrote:Naury, if it gets bad enough you feel the need to evac, you can leave your Elan in our driveway in SW Santa Rosa; I can move my FJ onto the street. BTW, the offer is reciprocal. I have lots of parking space. And no blackouts so far. My insurance company even parked a fire truck at the foot of my house to protect it, last time.

Hello Naury,
We are here as well in Benicia. I have space in my garage since my Elan is at the paint shop right now. I also have a pickup truck and 7x18 enclosed trailer that will easily carry an Elan, it can be either driven in or winched in.
This offer goes for anyone else in the East bay or North bay who is facing evacuation. Glad to help if we can.
Regards,
Dan
