Vitalone Sebring Mach 1 interior parts

PostPost by: sm03lotus » Fri Jul 03, 2020 1:17 am

Hi folks, I'm looking for the internal parts to a Vitalone Sebring Mach 1 mirror (metal) -- the mirror, the white plastic disk, and the base the white disk sits on. It's the things that are in the middle of the photo below.

Does anyone have an assembly they're willing to part with, or know of a source? I've already tried the usual sources.

Thanks!
Sandy

Good luck though I suspect it’ll be pretty unlikely. Can you not not make the parts you need?

I believe I have some parts for that mirror. Awhile back someone was looking for a near perfect one but mine had slight cracks in the clear/white plastic trim around the outside of the lens. I'm pretty sure it's still in a box somewhere and if I can find it there was a reproduction one in the box as well. PM me and I'll let you know what I have. I thought the repros were still available.

Be aware that there are two different sizes of the Mach 1 type mirrors. See:

viewtopic.php?f=36&t=42088&p=297570&hilit=+mach+1#p297570

The picture you show appears to be for the larger repro version (rolled front edge). These are chromed plastic. The internal plastic frame and mirror are not interchangeable between the small and large versions. The small versions (no rolled edge) in chrome plastic can still be found - out of Europe/UK. I tracked one down to match my original small drivers side one. However, the standoff pedestal is not integral as in the originals. I also tried the larger repro type but they just looked too big on the petite Elan - though they gave a better range of vision.

If you really have a metal one, they are the small type and quite rare. Worth a lot of money, as they were used on old Ferraris and the like and in demand for those looking for originality. Serious money.

Thanks for your post, 1owner69Elan. Yes, the photo is of the larger plastic version; I used it for illustration purposes to show the internal parts I need because I couldn’t find a comparable photo of the smaller version. I’d like to keep the metal Sebring that I have, just replace the internals. I was hoping that the internals from a larger mirror could be adapted for use in the smaller metal shell. However, from what you say, it sounds like that may not be possible.

I’m interested in what you say about being able to find small versions in Europe/UK. I’m fairly new to sourcing parts. Can you give me any advice about where to look to find what I need in Europe/UK?

Hello Sandy

There is a very helpful chap called Ted in Smyrna, Delaware who may be able to help:

http://www.taylormadeclassiccars.com/pa ... parts.html

I have no affiliation but he does have a Vitalone listed for $35.

Thanks for pointing this one out, Andrew. I had seen it on Ted's site and asked him about it, but it's not quite what I'm looking for.

Here is a new, small, no rolled lip version:

https://www.google.com/shopping/product ... 15869,cs:1

I bought one of these a few years back from this supplier and it matched my original factory one except for the lack of a stand-off type base. You can buy a plinth that emulates the original raised base.

For future reference, a couple photos with rulers or mention of major dimensions would help documenting the issue...

I like the Vitalone shape on my S4, and find the lightness of a plastic version quite appropriate with the flexibility of the door skin : what is the approx. weight of the metal version ? I should have a spare plastic one (meant for the passenger, who is too scared to watch it anyway), I'll document it when I find it in the heap...

I liked the small Sebring no lip mirror from Autodelta , nice replacment for my existing no Sebring mirror.
Did notice they have both black & chrome versions. Purchased one today.
Haven't found a plinth (base) anywhere but I can always get raw materal from Tap Plastics and make one up.

The plinth is offered by RD Enterprises. $21. Has a curve on bottom to conform to the body.

I paired it with an Autobella small mirror. Seems the plinth works for both large or small mirror versions.

Please keep us posted about the new internals. I have two metal Sebrings that I'm about to put on the car but the plastic surround that holds the mirror is a bit tatty and I'd rather use a convex lens
