Hi,
I am hoping there maybe someone here who can help with some research I am performing for a book about TVR (!).
There was a post on this forum in 2013 from some members who used to work or knew employees of the Gold Seal Motor Company, a Lotus dealer in SE London (New Cross Rd) in the 1960s, so I am hoping they may still be active or someone else can assist me.
I know this is a long shot, but a car was sold there in 1964(?) that was apparently the 7th TVR made. It bore the registration POM990 and had a Kenmar Body and Triumph TR3 engine, British Racing green in colour.
If anyone happens knows anything, no matter how small, I would be very grateful for your knowledge and advice.
Many thanks
Mark

Looks like Jimco hasn't been here since 2016, but you can try PM'ing him?

If you go into his profile on the lower left is Send a Private Message. Click on that and type away..
Once sent it will sit in your outbox until it is read. As the chap hasn’t been back since 2016 there’s a more than reasonable chance it may never get read. He will get a notification to his email address but who knows if that is still in use.
Good luck!

Hi Mark
I was with Gold Seal Sports Cars in 1964,whilst we handled a number of early Granturas I can't recall the
car in the photo. I am in touch with one other surviving member of staff of that era .If he has any info I will let you
know. Sorry not to be more helpful

Dear Jim,
On contrary, thank you for making contact and for suggesting your friend maybe able to assist.
If it is of any relevance the TVR arrived in the garage as the previous owner traded it in and bought an AC Cobra..
It was based on a Kenmar body and had an Austin A40 chassis and suspension and Triumph TR3 engine
I guess there are no records left anywhere....
Would you happen to have a photo of the dealership from the 60s?
Many thanks again for your time.

No photo, but from memory, I used to pass there quite often back in the 60's, it was just a corner shop with room on a sloping forecourt for 2 cars only. The side road might have parked more cars and I expect they had a garage at the back. Things have changed a lot as I think this was the corner shop!

I noticed that one of the principals was named Peter Davies and one of my Elans was reported by Lotus archives to have been supplied to Dudley Davies. Does anyone on the list know of a Dudley Davies that would have been in the business in 1966-67 or possibly if Peter was also known as Dudley
