UK to US import

Has anyone here purchased a car in the UK for import to the US in the last few years that would be willing to share some advice? I'm researching the possibility and would welcome guidance - whether posted here for all or via pm.

With UK cars being at a premium to US prices, add in shipping and conversion costs it can?t be worth it unless it?s something special?
