After much fumbling, found that the secret was to introduce the nose and the right-hand lower lug at the same time. Then it just popped in ! ( with the diff brace in place )

Changed to nearside front wheel bearings - slight grumble - and from me in this heat. Did you know that there are two sizes of front wheel bearings? No, neither did I until I got it to bits..............

Yes, about twenty miles from me, from one of my local Lotus-friends. That is indeed a 4-speed housing, mounted via an adapter-plate.

It's a small world. I bumped into the only other +2 owner in Austin last yeah at a show and he was getting a 5 speed fitted to his!

I was thinking the 5 speed was super rare and hard to find over here, seems like I was wrong!!!

I still think that they're rare here, but that sometimes things happen close-by like that. Buying my Plus 2 was sort of like that. I got it from a friend to whom I'd been introduced a few years earlier by a mutual friend. I had an Esprit at the time and my friend said I should meet her other Lotus-friend.
