Also, I gave her a nice drive in 92 degree heat with heavy humidity and, since I had never driven her in this temperatures, let her idle in the driveway for 10 minutes to determine if it would overheat. I was elated to see her hold a rock steady 80 degrees on the gauge the entire time. It didn't even trigger the electric fan. So happy to have it momentarily sorted out and able to be driven, hopefully without fear.

Changed an upper front suspension bush found faulty on the MoT (though passed ). The rubber had detached from the inner metal tube and there was nearly 1/8" (3 mm) play under heavy stress. Took the arm off and to St Wilkins who squeezed it out and a new one in then I refitted it and tightened up in an on-road position.

Biggest problem on the MoT (Safety Check) was that the tester couldn't read the "chassis" number, as obliged to, and had rejected it a week earlier and again this time after I had clarified it though he relented and took my word for it. Curiously, the weigh bridge of the brake tests measured a total of 578 kg with driver and my tools, compared to the manual's 673 kg, and as a result the brake efficiency was equivalent to 1.2 g and even 0.4 g on the handbrake! I've not done more than adjust the latter's pad clearance for the last 40 years, it always works.

Lovely car. Are those larger than 13" wheels?

That sounds like a very dodgy bit of kit. That's probably under 500Kg for the car! You don't let that garage loose on your car do you?

The last time i helped a friend to change a Chassis i took my Metal Stamps with me. I stamped the Number next to the Lotus LR number no problem. Showed the Tester the Chassis Number and said the LR No was a part No.

Plexiglas window was roughly 1/2" too large all the way around. Is this so it can be screwed to the flange? Three days later, standard pace, it fits.

Thank you! Yes, they're 15" Minilites shod with 195/45/15 Toyo T1Rs. And amazingly, they do not rub the fenders!

i assume the tires don't rub as the fenders are flaired/customized a bit? Looks great with the larger wheel/tire combo.
hey, we're neighbors! you should stop in on one of your rides. would love to drive together with both our Elans touring beautiful Delaware bay coast farm and wildlife areas. Come on down!

Thanks, Ted! I have not found it to rub under any circumstances I've encountered. The flares and wheels were installed two owners ago during a major restoration.

I'm slowly becoming more confident in taking the car further from home. Hopefully soon I'll feel comfortable heading down state in it! I would love to take it down Route 9 and the surrounding areas, however preferably when it's not 95 degrees daily.
