I have a couple of small niggles, the TTR steering column joint is huge and the top nut and bolt rub on the bottom rad hose.

I had the same. Check and/or adjust the position of your steering rack. (Then re-adjust your tracking if necessary)

Thanks for that. I'm not sure how much rotation their is on an Elan rack, but will take a look.

Last year I was trying to fit a steering column UJ to a Mk 14 Elite, I just couldn't understand how the column and rack were meant to line up, then the penny dropped and I undid the rack bolts rotated the rack till it lined up with the column and fitted the UJ.

I have a big fat piece of yellow plastic tubing about 6 inches long slipped onto my lower coolant hose, so that the steering can rub away to its hearts content, it'll never get though that :D
It was a piece left over from when the Gas service people replaced the entire gas pipe in the street. The yellow wall thickness is about 1/3 inch.
For those in the USA Gas here does not mean petrol, it's the smelly vapour you burn for cooking or in my case in the central heating boiler.

Bill,
Thanks for that, I would never have thought of it. I'm going to fit some Cliveyboy adjustable rad brackets that I have kicking about somewhere, but if that doesn't work I'll keep an eye out for some gas pipe.
Cheerio,
Rob

Had a false start yesterday when ORJ fouled her NGK B7 plugs which let me drive about 100 yards up the road before the misfire didn't clear so then staggering back. I had anticipated this, so I had an old set of B6s which had also fouled, which I cleaned and then fitted whereupon she did exactly the same. I had ordred some new B6's which arrived last evening so fitted them and the engine ran clean and smooth. She puff a lot of smoke when she's been standing which doesn't help, but the new plugs worked fine - I got down to the petrol station and filled her up, then a did quick couple of miles going the long way home. I did find the handbrake didn't work, so adjusted it a bit tighter when I got home, then went out for another few miles run and she performed faultlessly, and the handbrake works as well. I've ordered another set of B6s just in case!

Lovely sunny day as well!

No but I’ve heard the horror stories.

I did drive a Chimera way back, it was a 4 litre. These cars are quite cheap now, but they are British muscle cars, with no handling finesse (at least not in my price range). Doesn’t really do it for me. It’s a kind of “Lotus’s evil half brother”..

Yes
In 1965 the evil Griffith that spanked the AC Cobras on the circuit.
Don't forget the SEAC big bad Wedges.
I nearly bought a 4.6 ltr Wedge with 275 bhp on tap but to register in France was not possible.
If one day you test drive a 3000S or a 3000M you will see.
For me i wouldn't consider a Chim.

Had a nice 10 - 12 mile run in the sun today - not sure how many as when I put the trim back under the steering wheel after fitting the hazard warning lights switch I seem to have mislaid the trip meter knob....

Anyway nice little run to picturesque Hartley Wintney where I was bought up. Views of the A30 - shame about the Pet Shop sign:

Matt - Lagoon blue looks superb.

Jim - S3 S/E's are wonderful cars.

I was out in the Sprint today and after (I think) thirty-nine years, the Elite is back on it's wheels!
