And that’s a nice looking workspace you have there as well!

The Floor looks toooo clean. Maybe there's no Oil in the Engine

It's amazing how much oil comes out of the pressure pipe union if you forget to fit the sealing washer

I'm drooling over your Lagoon Blue/white Sprint, that's my favourite colour combination followed by Yellow over White.

Re-attached the wires to the indicator switch -- the previous repair looked a bit dodgey.

It certainly would rank quite high up I agree. I had a few in the same vein, with the HRS wired in with domestic 1.5mm2 (earth colour) where s/he could not quite get the spade connector to crimp and gave it a dab of araldite to keep it there.. :D

I just ripped the whole lot out and made new! 8)

This afternoon was my first encounter with the dreaded bell housing jam. Gave up. Going to split the assembly.

Nooooo! Give it a wriggle and a bit more angle. I assume manifolds off, starter off, slave cylinder off?

Hi Pete,
It does go in, Honest.
The first time I put the engine and gearbox in I did it on my own and although difficult and slow it worked.
The second time I had two mates helping me, both experienced and capable.
After about an hour with one of us underneath, one at the top and one in charge of the crane we gave up.
A pint of tea and a bacon buttie later it went in in ten minutes.
The problem is that we do not know how or what we did different if anything.
I am fairly sure it was the bacon sandwich that made the difference.
We`ve been there and are rooting for you.
Keep going and best of luck

Getting the tail shaft into the chassis was the problem. Everything was off the engine. Also broke the terminals off the reverse switch! I ordered one yesterday just in case.

Did you have the front of the car raised off the ground? With a jack underneath the gearbox, I used a piece of wood to lever the tail shaft into tunnel.

Alan, you just topped it!!! FHC coupe Elans are such an integrated design, I loved washing my S3 SE down.

Early S3 SE Airflow

It's one of the Elans I regret selling, the other was my S1.

You're one lucky man, Elan and the lovely roads of France to enjoy! I've fond memories of trips to LeMans in mid 80's initially in a Fulvia Zagato Sport then my S4SE DHC, my best friends family had a lovely farm house, we used to drive the S4 from SE London to Moissac in a day, spend three or four weeks there and return, we'd depart on the 2AM ferry and pull up at about 6-7pm having rolled own the smaller roads and some of Napoleon's tree lined routes south.

Graeme (661) on this forum and I played water polo with Seb the 80's, it was Seb's parents holiday house and today Seb owns a house about 10Km's from his parents that we still visit!!! I miss not having the back roads and byways of UK and France to enjoy the Elan's nimble handling. One day I hope to bring the 26R over for a summer, if they'll accept it in tits original Group IV spec.

Hope you're all keeping safe and well in the UK and US, we've been lucky, for once the litany of distance has worked inner favour.. just
