Be safe

You can still drive your car. Just popping out for some milk!

I live in Morbihan Brittany France, you must have a special paper with you filled in: name, address, dated, time you left home, identity card.
Drive only to your nearest shop for needed things.
Police controls and if you are wrong 135€ fine+ go straight home.
Infected people seems to be stabilising so the shutdown maybe working. Let's hope so.

Hi Alan,
In Sydney at the moment you could drive for 20km looking for toilet paper and tissues. And not find any.
I hope this madness ends soon.
Back on topic. I changed the oil in my Lotus 7 replica. I need a friend to help with a brake bleed.
Regards Daniel

and the fine states at over A$1000, things are improving as people realise that the food supply chain is operating and the hoarding stops, make me laugh when I think about the toilet paper hoarding as Iv'e not heard of the shits as a symptom.

In my area, even with stores limiting purchases of toilet paper, paper towels, hand sanitiser and sanitising wipes, there are still none to be had on the store shelves. No real problem at my house as Mrs. Veg and I are not the type to let anything get too low even under more usual circumstances.

But back to the topic of this thread, I put the head back on the engine today.

I got my horn working - after endless diagnostics I eventually worked out that the old yellow relay was not working but the new one was, the wire which had fallen out of its plug in the non standard fuse box was the blue and black one that goes to the (non standard) later Triumph stalk with a horn push and that the horn compressor was somewhat knackered!
So with a new compressor from ebay £12.29 including postage - which was the same as the dud one - some head scratching to work out which socket the wire had escaped from and finally a spot of spannering today I've now got a working horn. And worked out how to get the bonnet off - easy despite the two pivot bolts being awkard and replaced the standard nut on the stay with a nyloc.....
So I can make a lot of noise on the drive while locked down :-)

Actually I did absolutely nothing!! Except I did persuade my son that he might relieve his boredom of self isolation by giving the Elan a really good deep clean and polish. He's really excellent at car detailing and the results were superb, what do you think?

+1

¿Do late S2s have dark interior door panels rather than the creamy white of 1600s?

Thank you.

I believe the majority of S2's had black door panels. I imagine S1.5's had the last of the S1 white panels. In the dim and distant past I have owned S1's, but I've never owned an S1.5.

My S2 had one owner from when it was built in July 1965 till 2000. The car then resided with friends whom drove it less than 100 miles a year for a decade and I bought it in 2010. The first owner was an engineer and he kept everything that he changed on the car. The second owners just looked after it. It was a beautifully original car.

Thanks Rob. By complete coincidence I unearthed an original S2 brochure which showed red seats and door panels and KO wheels on the front cover. Inside had the attached drawing with definitive tail lamps, early window lifts, cream door linings and vertical door handles, which I'm sure Isaw on some Elans. But marketing people are always changing details to differentiate the years.

I drove my Elan today, as most days, to about a half-mile from an almost deserted beach for a walk; fewer people and dogs than walking the streets. Unfortunately the interior door handle pivot broke as I shut the door (for about the fourth time). It's a pain you can't repair Mazak.

Sounds like an excuse for thread drift :D

Do you need to have a replacement part machined?
