Ooo err Matron!

I did mine recently but was not happy with the varnished finish, so stripped it again and did it with Osmo oil. Brilliant stuff, gave a much better finish.

Half way through 'refreshing' my old S3 Coupe I felt that the engine had to come out as it had become a little incontinent in it's old age.

Normally a blue streak coming from the water pump would be nightmare for an Elan owner. But for me it just further justified the work in getting the old thing apart!

Miles Wilkins built the engine in 1989, and I suspect that the warrantee for the water pump has expired now.

I'm currently in the process of fixing a few issues with my new to me S4 FHC.The inoperable driver's window assembly was removed and new parts were ordered.

The sag was adjusted out of that door and outside door handle was tightened, attempted to replace the worn flexible coupling between the steering column and rack with a U-joint.

But it was enough out of tolerance that the lower bolt simply will not fit better made unit is on order from a different vendor tightened the rearview mirror so it now stays in place, replaced the missing handbrake button with a used item.

Tried to get the handbrake to work but only partially succeeded pads need relining, installed LED brake lights, tracked down the source of a rattle in the boot, ordered a new steering wheel, and spent way too much time digging through old posts on this forum to learn how to do all this stuff.

Just a typical day in the life of an Elan owner then. :D

Fitted the manifolds and trial fitted the exhaust Y piece. No body currently fitted so relatively little cursing required. Not a job that I'd wish to repeat once the body is back on though. Surprised at how close it runs to the clutch slave. I'm using exhaust wrap, but I might have to copy one of the heat shields that are mentioned on here.

Consider a remote bleeder. Scroll down for pictures. Heat shield is good, too.

And I thought you'd spent all morning reading the owners handbook :)

That's great to hear. Would be great if you could update your thread on this for future readers. That table likely very helpful to them and more likely to be found on that thread.

Having a big pile of jets is probably useful for next time they change the fuel formulas and you have to adjust it again!

I remember there was a thread you started or posted on discussing this. Shouldn't be too hard to find by searching through your posting history for "jet" or something.

Not sure about now, but when King Hussein was around he loved his '87 Turbo Esprit!
