Completed the strip down, now on to refurbishing parts. So lots of cleaning and painting up coming.

It was about 6-8 weeks wait when they did mine a few years ago.
I put small white dots on the tacho. glass at 30, 50, and 70 MPH in top gear to help me behave when it was necessary.

Regarding Speedy Cables, you must be a favoured customer.

Took the Elite for a run out to visit a friend whom works at the local airport.

Yes I know, and I have followed your reports on the performance of that ratio, but there are moments when you spot a camera trap when you need to be assured very quickly that you are probably not going to be booked. If you are not certain, sudden braking does annoy the fellow behind.

Looking forward to a Sunday morning outing earlier.
Always starts first time but this morning wouldn’t fire up.
Just checked and no spark
Didn’t have anything on tomorrow so will electronic ignition etc.
The joys of Elan ownership!

The small piece you see, the bottom remains of an early damper, was well corroded seized into the bottom of the tube rendering the unit unusable -(caused insufficient height for an insert). After copious amounts of liquid wrench, drilled a small hole in the bottom of the tube and managed to knock it out, then epoxy’d in a small shallow head screw to seal back up the hole,… so it is now a usable part.

Telling wife “I had this unusable part…” at which point mid sentence she interrupted: “we have moved and stored an unusable part?”…. hmm me thinking. “an?” if she only knew….

I have done nothing at all as I have just had a new knee and am not allowed to drive for 6 weeks. Taking the time out to fit a new QED head and all sorts of lovely bits!! D

Oh and by the way I will shortly have a big valve Weber head with hardened valve seats for sale...........

Did some crawling around under the car taking measurements, basically just making sure that everything is going to fit properly in the upcoming five-speed installation. I'm feeling even better about being able to pull this off.
