Castle Combe weather and turnout

I was all set to travel down to CC early this morning but in the end decided not to because of the weather reports for the area. I would be interested to know whether the forecast of heavy rain was correct and the turnout of cars.

Myself and my mate Dave (Elan Sprint - almost recommissioned) trundled down there in my 2011 Alfa Gulietta from Fleet in Hants as my Plus 2s are not really roadworthy (ahem, must get a move on...) We took the A4 rather than the M4 as the traffic monitor on the Highways agency app said the M4 was full, we left around 09:30 and got there at 11:20ish. Spotted a Plus 2 on the Basingstoke to Nebury road going the wrong way...... It was cloudy with a few spots of rain on the way down, and cloudy when we got there but the rain held off and we had a great time ambling around the cars. I bought a few odds and sods for my 2 plus 2s and met a raft of great people. These included Paul Robinshaw who did his best to flog me more stuff, Ian Stent - Editor of the new Absolute Lotus mag, the owner of the first Hexagon Plus 2 convertible (who's name I didn't ask, sorry) and the owner of the early Plus 2 no 60 Melody who posts on here a Melodyk. All in all a great day as usual and the weather was pretty good all in as the sun started to come out at about 2:00pm. And I'm inspired to crack on with ALD's restoration so I can actully be there in a Lotus next year!
I'll post up some picks later. Oh, and me mate Dave was hoping that 'concretecrusher' was there so he could measure his sunroof (don't ask) but there was no sign....
Matt

This was an interesting car at Combe today, modified to take the 907 engine. Where there's a will, there's a way. Jim

I wish I'd gone now and ignored the forecast! Like you Matt I have an Alfa Guilietta which in hindsight I could have made the journey in. Apart from my Elan it's the best car I have ever owned. 167bhp from a 1400cc engine is remarkable.

We need to start a Lotus Alfa splinter group!
I've got to admit that my Giulietta is also a 1400cc pushing out 170bhp and it is great. It replaced an Audi A3 3.2 Quattro with around 250bhp and does everything the Audi could and gives 35+ mpg as opposed to the Audi's 20 mpg.... And I can get aged relatives in the back (when they work out where the door handles are).
