That?s bloody poor show Paul, I have BBQ and Pit Stop organised for Beachy Head car park! Looks like it?s all the more for me and mine!

Seriously, at Beachy Head there is a very nice car park, it?s a national view point and people generally go there when they are having leisure time. To be able to see a bunch of really nice classic cars is a bonus and whenever I have gone there with the +2 or Elan people have always been appreciative.

Maybe we should organise a couple of dates, it?s local for me and a few others, so should be well attended.
Kindest regards

Beachy Head is famous for something else too :?

I can't read the whole thread now but would love to join the South Coast crowd, if my Elan is on the road.

Oh hang on, what about Devil's Dyke? On the South Downs due North of Brighton. Some cracking drives round there. And pubs too....

London to Norwich might make more sense; perhaps we could talk Lotus into letting us drive on their track that surrounds the factory.

My feeling is that any Elan meeting in England ought to be in a fairly central location, the better to attract folk from all around.

With the demise of Club Lotus Donington, the only Club Lotus event is Castle Combe in May. It is not a static only event and is not now supported by the trade. There is the Lotus Forums event in late Aug/early Sep. Neither is there an Elan specific event at all.

I have been considering an 'Elan Excursion' to somewhere like Wicksteed Park in Northamptonshire. There is ample parking space, as proved by a number of other car clubs who gather there. There are also ample facilities, including the pleasure park for any families, restaurant and conveniences. Space also for trade and club stands.

A simple gathering of Elans of all types, bought together for one day. Arrive, park up and meet other enthusiasts. Space for static displays. Admire the cars. Could have several meeting places for a drive in company for cars to gather beforehand.

Summer season would be favourite, perhaps away from usual events, June or September. I suspect it may be too late for 2018 now.

Simple organisation. Pay for venue hire and make it free to enter. Trade stands could help pay overheads. Make it as attractive as possible for trade, say ?100/marquee pitch; ?10/table. Also get clubs along FoC

What do you think?
