Lotus Elan crosses the Amazon video

PostPost by: Certified Lotus » Sun Sep 03, 2017 11:45 am

A friend of mine just forwarded me this video link of an Amazon road adventure with a Lotus Elan making the entire trip in 2015. Absolutely amazing, and a little bit crazy. (Sorry if this has been posted before).

About now, they should be making another hazardous crossing, this time across the US, according to their last posting on this site.

I just heard from Peter. His car is in a container and will be in Newark, NJ shortly to start his Route 66 tour. Amazing all the places he has taken his a Elan.

I have offered the use of my garage if he needs to make any final "adjustments" before the trip as I am about an hour from the port of Newark.

I am looking forward to a possible visit from Peter after the end of his route 66 run. I believe a little post rally touring of the west coast with a visit to Lotus Land (Vancouver Island) is on his agenda.

I'm sure anyone shipping a car over to do a Rt 66 tour will have to start the actual tour in Chicago, but my son and I just towed my Lotus FJr out to Monterey, much of it on I 40 which was the modern replacement for Rt 66. Since the remnants of 66 are often still there and of course many of the little and not so little towns that Rt 66 went through are still there, we stayed in a few original Rt 66 establishments. I wish Peter all the best in his adventures. While in California, don't miss the roads up into Sequoia National park near 3 Rivers and the Sequoia grooves themselves.

As he may likely travel through Ohio, my shop in Columbus is available to him to make any necessary repairs, or even just a friendly stop-over.
