Sharing some incredibly sad news...

We've lost Dave Bean. Dave passed away early yesterday, Sunday Aug 13.

Dave was more than a place to go for parts and advice. Dave was a fellow Lotus enthusiast, a fellow racer, but more importantly a dear dear friend.

Our hearts go out to Roberta and the DBE family and, of course, we offer them our support during this time.

RIP Dave. We miss you!!!

Kiyoshi

I only met Dave the once when he crossed the pond for the Donington show years ago. A real lovely man. Sorry to hear this news following on so soon after the fire!

Hope the business continues to honour his name.

So sorry to hear the sad news.

It was always great to phone his office in the early hours of the morning here in Ireland and be able to chat away.

And to learn that the San Andreas fault is nowhere near San Andreas :)

I only spoke with him once on the phone, when all the other guys were out to lunch. Seemed like a really decent guy. Sad to read the news and I hope the company continues; DBE is my first-call for the stuff Yelotus needs!

Dave was a prince of a guy. Always willing to share his knowledge and insights. If you were interested in listening to him he was happy to tell you all he knew. He will be greatly missed in the Lotus community. Rest In Peace Dave.

So sorry to say farewell to Dave

He was the first person in world who I found that knew about Elans and was willing to share the knowledge and not just sell you parts or services. I learned an incredible amount from him and his parts manual and his people over a 40 year period. The card I got 20 years ago said it all

I rhink I first met Dave back in the 1960's when I was racing my S7. I moved on from the 7 and Dave stuck with Lotus. It may have been a year or so ago, I had called for some parts for the S2 and he heard my name mentioned during the order and took over the phone. Must have spent a half an hour remembering old time. I was looking forward to seeing him again at the Lotus Gathering in Solvang in September. Hopefully there will be a proper wake for him at the event.

Had only spoken on the phone a few times about specific parts, etc. Really enjoyed his participation in the panel discussion at the Colorado Springs LOG dinner. Humorous stories with an easy going manner. Condolences to Roberta and all the folks at DBE.

This is very sad news. Looking at my calendar I realize it is almost exactly 40 years ago that I got my first DBE catalogue and began ordering parts from Dave and his crew.

My sentiments are the same as everybody else.
Only met Dave a couple of times on visits to the store.
A terrific fella I wish he had opened his business here in Australia.
California is a long way to travel for a chat and some parts.
My sincere condolences to all in the family and those close to Dave, he will be sorely missed by all that knew him.
