Malcolm?s annual Workshop Open Day this year will be from 12.00 to 18.00 on Saturday August 19th. The venue is Malcolm?s race workshop in Lamer Lane, Wheathampstead, Hertfordshire, AL4 8RG and as usual there?ll be some special historic Lotus road and racing cars on display and Malcolm will also be supplying another Mystery Lotus that has not been seen for some 25 years. Following last year?s record attendance Malcolm has further improved and extended the parking area. Malcolm and his wife Jill are great hosts and as usual will provide a BBQ and drinks in exchange for a donation to their local charity The Isabel Hospice. This is always a lovely summer gathering amongst new and old Lotus friends; everyone?s welcome, including guests, so just come along from around midday and enjoy yourself.

I spoke to Malcolm at Silverstone . As my car is one of 3 Elans he has owned and the other 2 will be there, we'll be making the trip. See you there.

Yes I expect to be there with his first Elan :-) though he must be prophetic as I hadn't actually said I will be there on Saturday; i guess he is presuming I will be as I have attended all his meets for the last 5 years or so.

I'm very poor at remembering faces, so I might not recall if i meet a forum member again, so feel free to re-introduce yourselves to me. I look like this: though usually with only ONE hat on :D

Bill,
For the first time in about 5 years I won't be there due to being on grandparent duties, please take lots of photos and post them up for the rest of us.

I'm going to Brands Hatch 2nd September for The Lotus Festival, hope to see you and others at that venue.

Photos from Malcolm Rickett's open day.

I arrived early to bags a spot in the courtyard, so the attendence looks a bit thin, but wasn't. There were lots of people there and the overflow carpark (paddock) was pretty full around 3 to 4 pm.

I bumped into Malcolm on Sunday and he was pretty pleased with the turnout, raising just over ?1K for his charity. First time the field ( car park - which is a show itself) has been completely full.

Thanks for the pictures Bill, the Seven with the Climax engine looks interesting, did you glean any details about it? The label on the dashboard is fun..... I read it as this car is dangerous and the driver is a lunatic

Alan, apparently one of the very earliest ones. I recall Bill telling me it was unit no 04. No doubt he will be along soon with additional info.

It did look interesting as a barn find. It had a hillclimb or speed trial medal on the dash too.
