Roger Becker

I read a few days ago that Roger Becker has succumbed to cancer.

I would have loved to have met him, as I was an Esprit guy before the Plus 2.

Another Lotus legend gone.

So sorry to hear that. I got to do a few laps at Road Atlanta with him driving one of the first Elises. We were on the track with a Viper which would leave the 118hp Elise on the straights, but Roger would push him through every corner. A really nice man and a great driver. All Lotus lovers will miss him.

I met him at Norwich City FC just when the Evora was being launched. We talked about the Europa Twin Cam chassis development work he did as that was the car I took that weekend. The occasion was a dinner organised by Lotus Cars and Hazel Chapman was guest of honour. Peter Warr gave a post dinner speech. Jim

Roger gave me a spirited drive around the Hethel track in an active suspension Eclat. I remember his gracious demeanor well, RIP.
