I am lucky enough to have this road nearby my house. I feel like it is one of the great driving roads, so, I decided to share some pictures.

It would be great to see other great driving roads from around the world!

Beautiful scenery! That's one great looking +2. :D

...and the mountains, the road and the water aren't bad either.

Geez Ruff.
This is NZ, there're only a few roads that aren't great driving roads.

Agree, one of the best and very little traffic when we were there. Especially compared to the part of Texas we're in, where it is congested and the only hills and turns are at interchanges.

Yeah, it's getting busier with all of the tourists. (And you do have to watch out for them...) But, it's still pretty terrific!

Hi Ben,
I am a member from Hamburg Germany.
But I was lucky to drive the Queenstown Glenorchy road yesterday.
I find your presentation a huge coincidence with my own drive.
Sorry to have been one of the tourists.
But I can confirm that it is beautiful in any aspect.
We should have a world meeting there! :D

Hi Gunther,
You don't have to apologize for being a tourist, you guys bring a lot of money into NZ !

The only tourists us Kiwis aren't too happy with are the ones that drive on, ( what is for us), the wrong side of the road.
Every year there are deaths, crashes, and near misses.
Usually Asian and Indian drivers though, very rarely German.

Ralph.

It can second in the "best motorcycle routes in the world". The winner was the road that runs up the coast of Labrador in Canada ( when the skeetas are not about!)

Ruff,
The road looks great. I don't think I'm likely to find one like it in S.E. England!! Plenty of good roads but also plenty of other traffic. I really like the colour of your car. I have a lagoon blue & silver roof 130/5 and I am preparing to respray it due to a number of scratches and scuffs which are hard to blend in due to the age of the paint and the metallic finish. The paint on your car doesn't look metallic, but that may be a trick of the light. Could you let me know the colour you have used,
Thanks,
Mick

Gotta agree....I was on the road two years ago to visit a cousin that lives on it. Got to get back down there before all the tourists make it too crowded. I'm informed that hotel accommodations are getting hard to come by even in the off season. Beautiful country and I would consider retiring in my mothers land but being from the Americas I'm afraid I'd run out of roads to drive! :D

I think the key is to drive very early in the morning (but don't tell the slow driving tourists!) (... and I am confident any tourist driver on this forum would be a very welcome driver on our roads).

Yes, it's true it is getting busier here, and that the hotels in Queenstown are charging too much. It's actually well worth looking into the lodges and airbnb. There are some nice options out there.

I am really sorry, I do not know the exact colour. It was painted by Bob Brookland many years ago. (He painted the Britten motorbike, and a few of the guys who worked on the bike were involved in the restoration of my car).

I actually have a short film I made about the car on that road about to release. I will post it here for anyone who is interested.
