Rob, I'm a youngster compared to you (61 1/2) but same as you, my wife will have to bury me in a Lotus. I've owned a lot of different sports cars in my life and a Lotus is the only one that makes me smile every time I drive it. I'm new to the Elan, but it's the most enjoyable car I have owned. So simple, so much fun to drive and such a sweet looking sports car.

Like others, I have fairly big feet. Size 11.5 US. The only way I can drive the Elan's I own is to wear one of the two pair of driving shoes I have in my driving shoe collection. . Both were purchased in Europe. My favorite shoes are a pair of Colin McRee Sport. Very soft, stiff heal and fire retardant. The brown ones I bought in Italy and are Michael Schumacher branded driving shoes (I don't know who made them). They also fit well in the Elan foot well. My pair of Piloti's are too big for the Elan and don't get used very much (when I had Porche's that is what I wore).

Like the rest of you, I really enjoy long drives in my Elan (Although Ross and Ted Taylor have me beat by a very wide margin) and a comfortable driving shoe is a must.

Getting in and out of the car? I seem to have mastered that many years ago and it's challenge. I'm a big boy (210 lbs) so my only issue is the seat is a bit tight for me. But I'm happy when I'm driving so it doesn't matter.

Only 52 with 8.5s, which still require Pumas, but it sounds like I have many years of lotus enjoyment ahead of me :D Dan
