Drive It Day, 24 April, Yorkshire

PostPost by: adigra » Thu Apr 14, 2016 10:15 am

As mentioned in a thread in the Elan section, there are a few of us in the West/North Yorkshire area with Elans and +2s, so how about we organize a day out on some nice Moor roads? Drive It Day is coming up on Sunday, 24 April, so if anyone is up for it, and the weather is half decent, we could go for a drive and maybe some food at a decent pub.

What do you think?

Regards,
Adi

Do you mean a link for the original thread? It's Mazzini's thread about his car's 49th birthday, but I started this one to see if we can organize something specific.

I would love to, but I have a horrible feeling work will get in the way...

I too would be tempted depending on when and where. Perhaps they`ll start near Stocksbridge and come over the Strines (hint), a great route, then coffee at Hassop Station, through Chatsworth etc. I could sort a route that would finish at, say Holmfirth.
Not exactly North Yorkshire but a thought.

I'm away most of next week, so I'm perfectly happy to go along with a decent plan if someone else is willing to sort out a route and time.

I've joined classic car days out in the Dales as well in the past, so there are some really good routes there too, and closer than the Moors.

I did the MG Cumbria Roof of England challenge in the +2 on Sunday last, starting from M6 Tebay services - this year it was in the Dales, extending into Durham Dales and was a cracking day out.

The most memorable roads were Brough to Middlteon (an all time favourite) and Hawes to Ingleton.

Superb day and some fantastic roads. Extend it further and take in Hartside pass!

Will put this in the diary.

At what stage do you need to notify plod?

It would be great have a few classics on a run together. As it is I have already booked on to a run. I would be interested in meeting up at some point in the year for a run out or a weekend, i'm in East Yorkshire

Looks like no-one has got into organisation mode for this one,but if anyone has a plan/route/agenda and timings I might well be tempted to foray up North for a couple of hours after Huddersfield...
