Al bit off topic but I saw the newly (relatively) restored GKN Special yesterday at KTR, the race prep and restoration shop in Ayer, Massachusetts, USA. My apologies for the substandard photo.

Cool ! 8)

Europas look so good from the front, in Europe we call them a Marmite car... You either love them or hate them!

wow great looking car. I have seen pictures of it. I think the Europa is a fantastic car. You would be lucky to find one in blighty the Japanese enthusiasts bought most of them. There are aspects of my Europa that I prefere to my Elan. Both great cars though.

Russ

I understand the restoration has taken well over 10 years to complete. KTR must have a lot of work, or the owner is young and can afford the years!

Gus

I think europatc was talking about Europa's in general, not GKN 47D.

Nice color, but GKN47D really does look like a stretch limo in the picture. I believe that's the owner's LoCort in the left background, ex Alan Mann, and looking shiny to boot. I last saw it at a dyno day a few years back when he'd just acquired it and it showed up wheezing and snorting. I fortunately had the right spanner to re-attach the front weber.

It does look stretched! Mind you, they had to lengthen it by 10" to get the V8 lump into it.

Different LoCort, the Alan Mann has it's unique red body shell and gold roof livery.

Years ago I was told that a favorable shop rate was negotiated by allowing KTR is fit the work into slack periods.
