Really interesting pictures.

Its a very early 1500 car and appears to have a development sand cast head of a type I have not seen before and not the normal die cast head early production heads. It appears to have a breather vent rather than the oil catch chamber on the right rear of the head.

cheers

I was about to post the same link. There are also some factory pictures I hadn't seen before.

766 BOO was unit no. 0003, fitted with engine no. S287252E, which was a 1500cc engine number. It was later changed to a 1600 unit.

It was the Earls Court Motor Show display car, was then tested by John Bolster for Autosport (he can be seen in the photos holding the bonnet lid away from the car) and then bought from Chequered Flag by Ian Scott-Watson. There are some photos of Jim Clark in the car from a time Ian lent it to him.

Probably the rare 1500 head then Rohan?

They seem to be from a collection by George Phillips - maybe a road tester of the period??

I must admit looking at the quality of the road outside the large house, makes me think that the quality of roads "back in the day" was not as good as I remember !

I have not seen an equally divided three spoke steering wheel that blocks the instruments. In the last few pictures you can see what I thought was the original wheels that came with the Elans. Interesting, I'm always being surprised.
