Is that a recent photo, Gordon? In the early 70s I was working on a radar speed meter for the big SRN4 hovercraft, a problem being that it rarely pointed in the direction it travelled. We designed a solution but it was never tried and nowadays I expect they use GPS. It was a terrible environment for electronics hanging on the back.

Not too recent - 19.8.1989. The (swiss) guy in the picture came across, he had crashed his elan at Brands....
(I was also in electronics by the way - the hovercraft environment wasn't that great for humans either, especially when the sea was rough - one time after embarking on the french side I had to sit for 15mins until my full body pins and needles went away...)

... and that lovely red VW Polo „Bonzai-Shootingbreak“.Had one of these for more than 30 years. Moved a lot of Elan parts. 720kg, quick little car. Nice picture!

Passenger seat full forward, drivers seat as far forward as sensible for me. Gutted, not my next daily
